Faber Castell and JustRite Papercraft Mixed Media Blog Hop

Today the JustRite Design Team and the Faber Castell Design Memory Craft Design Team have a fabulous blog hop planned for you! Be sure to visit each blog for full detailed instructions on how they created there mixed media projects.

Can I just say that I am in love with Faber-Castell Gelatos. I have been playing with them all month and just love how rich, smooth and creamy they are. To see additional cards that I have created using them - scroll down to my last two blog posts using them too.

For my project today I wanted to show you how to make a stunning card in just a matter of minutes. Today I am playing with Metallic Gelatos!

First I stamped in versamark and embossed in white Justrite's March Release set Grand Damask Background Stamp.

Then I applied my Gelato Colors - Metallic Mint and Metallic Blueberries to my image. Just color with the gelatos and then rub in the color with finger. This is super fast and fun. Next I spritzed the paper with water and using a paper towel remove any excess color from my embossed area (this gives it an even softer feel). Now you can add more color in certain areas to make your embossed image really pop.

Graceful Monogram

For my Cameo Image I stamped and embossed in white only the frame. Then I used the Silver Ice Metallic gelato to rub over the white embossed frame. Next I went back and added in hints of Metallic Mint to the outside area of the ornate frame. In the interior of the frame I added both Metallic Mint and Metallic Blueberry. Once I got the feel I wanted in the interior of the frame I stamped my cameo using with Memento Danube Blue.

Next I die cut and embossed my cameo image with Spellbinders Stately Circles. Then I colored the outside rim with Metallic Blueberry and rubbed the color around with my fingers. I die cut the Grand Damask Background Stamp image with die #4 from the 5 x 7 Matting Basics A set which fits perfectly inside the largest die in the 5 x 7 Detailed Scallop Die.

JustRite March 2013 Release - Winged Vintage Labels One & Two

It felt so great to finally after months get back into my studio to create a card!! Nothing like a creative high to start out the weekend right! It was also fun to play with my line of Polished Stone Paper again and some new toys. Be sure to check out the link list at the bottom of my post to see what the rest of the design team created!! YOU WILL BE INSPIRED - they rocked this set!

And play I did... I am just in love with Faber-Castell Gelatos .

To create my background I stamped the Flourish from tomorrow's Grateful Heart Vintage Labels Two stamp set with versamark on my Deep Sea Polished Stone and embossed in white to frame my Winged Vintage Labels Two Frame. To create my frame I stamped the image on Canson 140 lb Watercolor Paper and embossed the image in white. Next starting with the lightest color gelato I randomly colored the stamped image using the colors pictured here. Then I gently rubbed the image with my finger. Once I had the colors placed where they were pleasing to the eye, I spritzed the image with water and used my finger to soften the transitions between colors and then wiped the image with a paper towel. Voila!! So love the watercolor look I got.

Next I stamped and embossed in white -two butterfly images from Winged Vintage Labels Two & Three and die cut them with Spellbinders Wonderful Wings. Then I rubbed used the gelatos to rub in color over the white embossed image. If you haven't used a gelato yet - you don't know what your missing. The sweet tubes that work like a chap stick container are compact acid-free pigment sticks which glide on creamy smooth for vibrant color and coverage. All Gelatos® blend easily with or without water. You can spritz with water after applying color to soften the look.

The lace edging at the top and bottom of the card is a section I cut from die cut frame from Spellbinders new Detailed Scallop 5 x 7 dies. Next I backed the die cut with a small strip of Kellie Green Polished Stone.

Introducing At the Beach Oval Medallions

It's another day at the Beach for me!! (at least in my studio). For my card today I used the shell elements from At the Beach to create my own designer paper then used a dauber to rub in some color so that my paper wouldn't be stark white.

To frame my sentiment I used the Medallion Oval Frame from Just Keep Calm and filled the bottom of the frame with stamped SeaShells.

At the Beach Oval Medallion Labels is designed to coordinate with JustRite Custom Oval Medallion Dies.

I used my Copic Markers to alter the color of my shell so that it would coordinate better with the colors of my card.

And here is where I used the other half of the vintage crocheted lace trim on my card. Loving Tsukineko's new spritz walnut inking solutions!!

For my card I used asentiment from Because I Care and a Butterfly from Butterfly Garden -in conjunction with butterfly paper from the Mariposa Stack and lots of Prima Flowers. I am so ready for the sun to come out so I can go play in my new flower beds. It has done nothing but rain here for weeks. Not heavy rain - thank goodness - just gloomy rain. SO I think my card reflects my need for some sunshine so I can finsih planting my flower garden.
